Our Leadership

Chris Gray Senior Pastor

Ordinary and Average are probably the words I’d choose to describe myself. According to one statistic, the average American male is 5’10″ and 191 pounds. The last I checked, I’m 5’11″ and slightly over the 200 mark. I’m on a collision course with the middle-ages, I have brown hair that’s racing up my forehead, and I have an average build. I own a three bedroom home with a mortgage and I drive a mini-van.

I have a beautiful wife from West Virginia named Cindy, three great sons, and a cockapoo dog named Bella. But despite my “ordinary-ness” God chooses to use me anyway.

My point of origin is northern Maine where I was born and raised.  I then attended and graduated from Zion Bible Institute in Rhode Island in 1991. I furthered my education at Central Bible College and the Assemblies of God Theological Seminary in Springfield, Missouri graduating in 1997. We have lived in Sayre since starting Greater Valley Assembly in 1998 and plan on living here until we’re old (which may be closer than I’d like to admit).

We love people and want to help them love God. I’d enjoy the chance to become acquainted with you and help you in any way I can to know God better.

In Christ,

Chris

Phil Maenza Jr. Children’s Pastor

“A big kid at heart who loves Jesus Christ!”  Perhaps that’s the best way Pastor Phil would describe himself.  He not only loves Jesus but wants to help the children of Greater Valley Assembly to follow in the footsteps of Jesus as well.

Pastor Phil grew up in Rochester, NY where as a young adult he came to know Christ as his Savior.  After graduating from Zion Bible Institute in 1991, he married his precious bride, Summer Davis Maenza (a native of Waverly).  They came to The Valley in the mid 1990’s where Pastor Phil pastored for 10 years.  He joined Greater Valley Assembly as its children’s pastor in January 2012.  Together, they have 3 wonderful sons and a beautiful daughter.

The Church Board

Greater Valley Assembly is an incorporated, non-profit church consisting of an “awesome” (Pastor Chris’ word) board of directors.  Greater Valley Assembly is governed by it’s own Constitution and Bylaws while remaining under the covering of the Pennsylvania/Delaware District Council of the Assemblies of God

.  The church board is as follows:

Pastor Chris Gray    President
Diane Carlin             Treasurer
Bruce Graves            Secretary
Doug Bailey              Deacon

Cliff Horton              Deacon
